“Wolf in sheep’s clothing” is a popular expression used to identify a person who appears to have good intentions but is actually evil, perverse or dishonest.

The origin of the expression goes back to the New Testament, to a parable used by Jesus Christ to alert believers to falsehood, saying, “Beware of false prophets. They come disguised as sheep, but inside they are wolves. You will know them for what they do.“
